Chemical sunscreens utilise filters like avobenzone, oxybenzone, octinoxate, and homosalate, becoming effective only after absorbing UV rays into the skin. In contrast, mineral sunscreens, also known as chemical filter-free, use mineral filters, like zinc oxide, reflecting UV rays away from the skin instead of absorption.

Mineral Sunscreen: A mineral sunscreen uses active mineral ingredients, like zinc oxide, to shield the skin from harmful UV rays. XO Skin Co uses non nano zinc oxide, a mineral ingredient known to be non-damaging to ocean life and coral reefs, in contrast to the potential harm associated with chemicals in some sunscreens.

SPF (Sun Protection Factor): The SPF indicates the extent to which a sunscreen filters out ultraviolet (UV) radiation. A higher SPF means a higher percentage of harmful rays is filtered. For instance, SPF 30 filters out 96% of UV rays, while SPF 50 guarantees at least 98% filtration, all XO Skin Co products are SPF 50.
